Sonora’s Friends of the Animal Community Named Best Nonprofit in 2026 Readers’ Choice Awards

To everyone who voted for FOAC in The Union Democrat’s Readers’ Choice Awards, thank you. We’re honored that you chose Friends of the Animal Community as Best Nonprofit in the 501(c)(3) category.

What that support looks like

Much of FOAC’s work happens in living rooms across Tuolumne County. A foster family gives a dog or cat a place to settle in and gets to know the animal along the way. What makes them nervous? What helps them relax? Those everyday details help our team find a home that fits.

In 2025, FOAC recorded 779 adoptions. Behind each one were people who made room for an animal, drove to a veterinary appointment, helped cover the cost of care, or welcomed a new companion home. We’re grateful to everyone who made those adoptions possible.
