FOAC needs your help with:

  • Adoption events

  • Community events to help find new homes for our animals.

  • Fostering homeless dogs and cats

  • You will welcome a dog, puppy, cat or kittens into your home and care for them until adoption.

  • Transportation of animals

  • Taking animals to vet appointments, adoption events, etc.

  • Fundraising

  • Help FOAC raise money!

FOAC Volunteer Job Descriptions

Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age and be able to commit to at
least eight hours per month for a minimum of six months to remain active.

  • General Admin

  • Answer phones

  • Assemble adoption folders

  • Enter all animal data into the database

  • File

  • Review adoption applications

  • Animal Services

 

As an animal services volunteer you will play a very important role in the
process of finding our adoptable animals their forever homes. Once you have
completed your orientation, you will be able to help in the following areas:

Kennel Care
Think you have what it takes to get the shelter spotless by 10am? Help our
kennel staff clean and prep our shelter for adoption hours.

  • Cleaning kennels and outdoor runs

  • Ensuring disease control

  • Replenishing bedding

  • Maintaining laundry of all bedding and kennel needs

  • Sanitizing water and food bowls

  • Replenishing water in kennels

  • Animal Socialization

 

It is important for shelter animals to have ongoing socialization while
waiting to find forever homes. This not only helps keep them happy and
healthy, but also improves their manners for their new family.

Canine/Dog Socializing

  • Cuddle time

  • Brushing

  • Playtime

  • Using enrichment tools (ex. stuffing kongs)

  • Teaching basic commands and manners

  • Conditioning our adoptable dogs on their kennel presence

  • Agility course training*

  • Taking dogs for walks outside of adoption center

  • 6 days a week

For Volunteers Interested in Dog Walking

We currently have dogs at three separate facilities. Our main office is located on Tuolumne road across from Standard Park, our old office is located on Mono Way, and we board new dogs at Jamestown Boarding while we wait for space to open up at our other facilities.

Which facilities are you willing to walk at?

Training usually takes place at 10am. Please list 2-3 dates in the next few weeks you'll be available to train and which facility is most convenient for you. We will confirm that one of our walkers is available to show you around and get back to you as soon as possible.
